Root canal treatment will save your tooth preventing the need for an extraction.

Root canal treatment explained

Root canal also called endodontic treatment is required when the nerve in a tooth is inflamed or infected. This infection and inflammation causes pain and sometimes swelling. This can be a a result of deep decay, large and deep fillings or as a result of an injury to the tooth.

What to expect

  • Endodontic treatment is generally carried out over 2 appointments.
    • Local anesthetic ensures comfortable treatment.
    • The inside of the root is carefully cleaned and shaped.
    • The canals are then filled and sealed.
  • A crown may be required after this treatment.
