We believe a child's first introduction to dental treatment should be happy and comfortable. Our dentists and support team take pride in making children's dental appointments as fun and laid back as possible. All of our child patients leave with a little present at the end of their appointment.
Routine Child Examination
During your child's dental exam our dentists will carry out the following:
Full examination of your child's teeth, gums and bite.
Demonstration on how to brush.
Diet advice and oral hygiene advice with both child and parent(s).
x-rays if required
Review of any habits such as thumb sucking which could cause orthodontic issues.
Fissure sealants are a non invasive and painless way of protecting your child's adult molar teeth. They should be placed when the adult molars erupt.
A fissure sealant is a coating which covers the chewing surfaces of the back adult teeth. The sealant forms a shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth thus lower the risk of decay in these teeth. They are white in colour and cannot be seen.
Children whose milk/baby teeth fall out early as a result of tooth decay may not develop straight adult teeth. Placing a filling in a baby tooth will restore the function, strength therefore preserving them until they are due to fall out naturally.
